FAQ
What is sex coaching and how is it different to therapy?
Sex coaching is a collaborative, educational process that helps individuals and couples improve their intimate lives. Together, we'll explore concerns surrounding intimacy, desire, communication, pleasure, confidence, relationships, and sexual wellness while creating strategies that you can apply to everday life.
Sex coaching focuses on the present and future by helping you develop skills, improve communication, increase confidence, and work toward specific intimacy goals. Therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions or processing past trauma. While coaching can be deeply meaningful, it is NOT a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, or mental treatment.
Do you provide medical advice?
No.
Although I have extensive medical training, coaching sessions are educational and goal-oriented rather than medical appointments. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If a medical concern may be contributing to your symptoms, I may encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider.
Who do you work with?
I work with: individuals, couples, people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures (LGBTQIA+ affirming), people looking to reconnect with their sexuality, couples wanting stronger intimacy, people experiencing low desire, those navigating sexual confidence concerns, couples struggling with communication about sex, and individuals exploring pleasure, body confidence, and intimacy.
Is everything confidential?
Yes.
Your privacy is extremely important. Coaching conversations are treated as confidential except where disclosure is required by law or where there is risk of serious harm.
Are sessions virtual?
Yes.
All coaching sessions are conducted through secure video conferencing, allowing you to participate comfortably from your own home.
Do both partners need to attend couples coaching?
Ideally, yes.
However, positive change can begin with just one partner. Individual coaching can often improve relationship dynamics even before both partners participate together.
Will we discuss explicit sexual activities?
Sometimes.
Sex coaching naturally involves discussing intimate topics. Conversations are always professional, respectful, educational, and guided by your comfort level and goals
Do you offer hands-on or surrogate services?
No.
My practice is entirely talk-based. There is never any nudity, sexual contact, or physical interaction during coaching sessions.
What happens during the first session?
Our first session focuses on understanding your story, your goals, what's working well, what's been challenging, and creating a personalized coaching plan. You'll leave with practical strategies and clear next steps.
How many sessions will I need?
Every client is different.
Some people achieve their goals in just one or a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term coaching. We'll regularly evaluate your progress together.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?
Absolutely!
Empower Sensual Wellness welcomes adults of all sexual orientations, gender identities, relationship structures, and backgrounds.
Can sex coaching save my relationship?
No coach can promise that.
However, coaching can help improve communication, emotional connection, understanding, and intimacy, giving couples practical tools to create healthier relationships.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
If you're ready to learn, grow, communicate more openly, and actively work toward your goals, coaching can be a valuable investment in yourself or your relationship.
